Multi-hop ad-hoc networking paradigm is expected to be the key feature in future wireless communication systems. In a typical data broadcast scenario multi-hop ad-hoc routing protocols tends to allow devices to communicate and form networks in a manner to enable them to successfully communicate and share information with all the nodes. A concept of cooperative diversity can be applied to multi-hop networks in which multiple nodes cooperate to transmit the same data to a destination. This cooperation can be based on the use of Single Frequency Networks (SFN), also known as a form of Macro-diversity. This work comprises of a design of anSFN based distributed coopera-tive routing protocol (SFN-DCRP) for multi-hop ad-hoc networks using the MATLAB based tool Prowler (Probabilistic wireless network simula-tor). The proposed protocol is proactiveand incurs minimumper packet delay. A delivery rateor reachability improvement of up-to 36% points for a node is observed for the SFN based protocolas compared toa non-SFN based protocol in an ideal channel environment usingProwler. Since Prowler uses a CSMA MAC protocol, a deficiency of less than 0.1 percent exists in the measurements due to collisions in the network.
