Klimatpåverkan från fritidshus

Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The construction of second homes is increasing in Sweden, which leads to higher climate emissions and impacts natural landscapes. Therefore, a more sustainable development of holiday homes is needed. Climate declarations are a tool available for more sustainable construction; however, they do not currently apply to private individuals. The establishment of a climate declaration today is both timeconsuming and complex. Therefore, an adaptation may be necessary for it to be functional for private individuals. The purpose of this study is to examine how today’s climate declaration could be adjusted to better suit private users. Additionally, the study includes a comparison between the climate impact of a hermit’s cabin and a catalogue second home. Using literature reviews and calculations, the study gathers and compiles information for further analysis. The analysis aims to explore how different modules of the declaration could be adapted to function more easily for private individuals. The results from the literature review showed that a more in-depth study is required to develop these adapted modules. However, proposals for adjustments for a functioning climate declaration for private individuals are presented. The calculations showed that the hermit’s cabin has a lower climate impact per gross floor area compared to the catalogue holiday home. This is an expected result, but it supports the notion that climate emissions increase when people live in more square meters than necessary. Adapting the climate declaration is possible but requires more knowledge than what this study can provide. Furthermore, the standard climate declaration probably needs to be further developed before it can be adjusted for individuals, meaning that such adaptation is not currently easily created.
