Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study was to investigate how the stability of the control loop 483FC241 can be improved by adjusting the PI parameters using the optimization methods Lambda, Ziegler-Nichols, and AMIGO. The work focused on a control loop in the bleaching plant at SCA Östrand. Simulations were performed for all three methods and analyzed based on rise time, settling time, and overshoot. The Lambda method was tested and evaluated in actual plant operation and resulted in a marginal improvement in the control loop’s stability,Lambda method was considered the most suitable for SCA’s need for robustness in its control systems to meet production requirements. The other methods were tested only in simulation and showed faster response but with significant overshoot. The goals of the project were fulfilled, and the results show that both method selection and human expertise and experience are important in the work with control loop optimization
