Abstract [sv]
Abstract [en]
This thesis examines how well a specific ISP meets the requirements to become a participant in MANRS (Mutually Agreed Norms for Routing Security). MANRS is a global initiative that builds on best practices in routing and aims to improve the security and robustness of the internets routinginfrastructure. This is necessary due to the inherent security weaknesses in the protocols that the internet is built on, including the lack of built-in authentication of routinginformation. The purpose of the study is to analyze the current status of the ISP to assess their compliance with MANRS-requirements and provide recommendations for potential improvements. The method used is a quantitative research methodology with a descriptive and analytical approach. Through document analysis of MANRS four action points - filtering, anti-spoofing, coordination, and global validation - as well as a detailed review of the ISPs network configuration and published information, the study has created a comprehensive mapping of the current status. The results show that the ISP already meets all the mandatory requirements set by MANRS. This indicates that they have a robust network infrastructure and a strong security mindset. In addition to the mandatory requirements, there are also several recommended actions from MANRS, most of which are already implemented. To fulfill all requirements, action proposals have been created, including the automation of filtering inbound traffic, which the company intends to implement. The conclusion is that the ISP can apply to become a MANRS participant with confidence that they meet all the necessary requirements. This thesis contributes to a clearer understanding of MANRS requirements and how network operators can improve their routingsecurity to create a safer and more robust internet infrastructure.
