Abstract [en]

Using qualitative content analysis, this study investigates how Swedish media portrays Israeli and Palestinian victims within the Israel-Palestine war. The research explores the influence of various language and rhetorical strategies utilized by the media on public perceptions of the war. The findings indicate a consistent bias in favor of Israel in Swedish media coverage, often minimizing the plight of Palestinians. This bias may be influenced by international negotiations between the two nations, which carry significant political and economic implications. Despite limitations such as the restricted number of news articles analyzed and the narrow timeframe for data collection, this study provides valuable insights into media bias and its impact on Swedish media reporting of the Israel-Palestine conflict. Future research could delve deeper into these dynamics and examine how diplomatic negotiations shape media coverage and representation of conflicts.
