Abstract [sv]
Abstract [en]
To ensure that a wheelchair is safe to use, testing in the form of mechanical strength is required. This thesis has been carried out in collaboration with Permobil AB, which develops, manufactures, and sells electric wheelchairs. Currently, there is no equipment and no routines for testing mechanical strength. The goal of the project was to create a concept for a test-rig for Permobil. This is to enable tests of mechanical strength on their electric wheelchairs. Furthermore, the goal of the project has been to verify the proposed concept with the requirements specification. The purpose of the project has been that the proposed concept should contribute to a safer and more ergonomic work environment for their employees. The concept was limited to only be adapted to the electric wheelchairs F5 Corpus VS, F5 Corpus, F3 Corpus, M5 Corpus, M3 Corpus, M1, X850 Corpus 3G, K300 PS Jr. The project has followed the mechanical design process consisting of six phases, but was delimited to project planning, product definition, concept design, concept analysis and concept decision. Furthermore, its constituent parts have been applied to a certain extent to better suit the project. Initially, background material was studied to decide which method would be suitable. The overall purpose of the project. Issues, boundaries, societal and ethical aspects were then formulated. A timetable for the work was also drawn up. Further in the product definition phase, the project continued with literature analysis, market research, customer requirements and requirement specification, risk assessment, activity-, function- and risk analysis. In the concept design phase, concept generation, concept evaluation and CAD modelling were performed. This was followed by the concept analysis phase which consisted of further activity analysis, risk assessment and concept evaluation of developed concepts. In conclusion, a decision was made on what became a proposed solution. The proposed solution resulted in a construction with an electrically driven actuator and a pneumatic cylinder to apply static forces to the parts being tested. Furthermore, suggestions were given as to which associated products might be suitable for a functioning product. The conclusion that could be drawn after the project was that the developed solution was an approved solution given the requirements that were set. With this, the project's goal was considered fulfilled. The proposed solution proposed offered a solution where the user does not have to perform heavy lifting. The risks were also considered to be reduced with the proposed solution. With this, the purpose of the project is deemed to have been fulfilled. Further improvements that would be beneficial for the solution proposal is to look at a simpler and faster way to change the position of the external parts that are added by fastening of the electrical wheelchair. If the project is taken to further development, it would also be necessary to investigate whether changes can be made to reduce assembly time. A deeper analysis would also be needed whether the entire construction can bear the load that occur with the changes being made.
