Discrimination is evident in many migration processes, according to several scholars. It affects one’s mental health both short term and long term. This work aimed to explore perceptions of discrimination in the education environment among immigrants in Sweden. Method: Data was collected using semi-structured interviews of six male respondents (24-45 years), all with an academic level obtained in Sweden during the spring of 2024. The topic guide focused on school experiences and the relationship with their teachers. The analysis was conducted using content analysis. Results: The findings showed that some respondents had a positive experience of the school whilst others had not resulted in four categories; Discrimination usually occurs in group projects and with language barriers, some teachers discriminate, and others do not, a diverse environment protects against discrimination, and the negative effect of discrimination affects people differently. To conclude, the school environment has the potential to be improved, making it more supportive in assisting students from diverse backgrounds.
