Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

” The new normal” as it is called regarding the hybrid work methods when organizations have had to change their working format, is here to stay. Organizations have had to adapt in order to continue operating as the world undergoes constant changes, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. Employees have transitioned from working in the workplace, to work from home because of the restrictions, and today, they have had to alternate between working remotely and working in the workplace in a hybrid version. The authors of this study, as a result of this, have been interested in examining and increasing the knowledge of how a leader’s work with continuous improvement changes with hybrid work methods. The study used a qualitative research method, and the authors conducted eight semi-structured interviews. The collected data was thematically analyzed. In summary, the conclusion has been that leaders believe it is appropriate to use the strategies off differentiated and integrated cognitive processes, according to the theory, to work with continuous improvements in the hybrid work methods. Leaders have experienced challenges in working with continuous improvements in the hybrid work methods such as lack of engagement, isolation, and lack of social interaction. Leaders have also experienced opportunities such as flexibility, increased digitalization, and the ability to attract a wider range of competence. Based on the identified challenges and opportunities in continuous improvements in the work hybrid method, the authors of this study have with help of collected data from leaders, developed a checklist for how leaders can navigate continuous improvement in the hybrid work method.
