Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to investigate how workers at a high-tech company experience competence development and learning in the workplace. The study also aims to explore how team leaders contribute to the development of skills among workers. To achieve this, a mixed method has been used, which means that both qualitative and quantitative research has been combined through the use of interviews and questionnaires for data collection. The theoretical framework for the study is based on Peter Senge's five disciplines of learning in organizations, Vygotsky's zone of proximal development, and Dewey's learning theories. Initially, the theoretical and methodological frameworks used are presented, followed by results and analysis. Previous research has shown a clear connection between learning and competence development, which is also confirmed in this study where the workers appreciate efforts to improve competence and promote learning. In addition, the results show that team leaders play an important role in promoting skill development among workers. Something that stood out about this study is that group collaboration was ranked first among efforts for skill development and learning among the participants.
