Abstract [sv]

Syftet med detta examensarbete var att undersöka hur en organisation kan arbeta för att integrera en organisationskultur präglad av offensiv kvalitetsutveckling i nytillkomna verksamhetsplatser i syfte att säkerställa kvalitet vid leverans av organisationens produkter. Detta har studerats specifikt genom att undersöka hur utvecklande av emotionellt engagemang kan användas som komplement till Hörnstensmodellen i syfte att integrera kvalitetskultur i nytillkomna verksamhetsplatser vid förvärv och nyetableringar. För att kunna studera detta fenomen i en verklig kontext valdes en enskild organisation ut som hade karaktären av att vara mycket snabbt växande med kontinuerliga förvärv och nyetableringar av platser, och där det samtidigt fanns en påtagligt stark kvalitetskultur som av organisationen sågs som en huvudfaktor för framgång avseende kvalitet vid leverans av organisationens produkter. Det empiriska materialet samlades in genom en kvalitativ tvärsnittsstudie där intervjuer genomfördes med respondenter från en stor bredd av roller inom den studerade organisationen i syfte att skapa en helhetsbild av de tillvägagångssätt som användes för att integrera kvalitetskulturen i nya verksamhetsplatser. Dataanalys har genomförts genom en deduktiv ansats där kategorier och teman på förhand identifierats utifrån hörnstenarna i Hörnstensmodellen samt tillägget av en föreslagen sjunde hörnsten i form av att utveckla emotionellt engagemang. Den data som samlades in från intervjuerna tematiserades därefter inom ramen för dessa kategorier. Slutsatser som kunnat dras från undersökningen var att emotionellt engagemang, i kontexten av att integrera kvalitetskultur i platser som tillkommit vid förvärv och nyetableringar, kan fungera som ett komplement till Hörnstensmodellen där alla sju värderingar samverkar med varandra. Undersökningen har även betonat nyckelaspekter avseende hur en organisation med en stark kvalitetskultur kan arbeta för att integrera kvalitetskulturen i nytillkomna verksamhetsplatser i syfte att uppnå hög kvalitet vid leverans av produkter och tjänster.

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this thesis was to investigate how an organization can work to integrate an organizational culture characterized by Total Quality Management in newly added sites in order to ensure quality when delivering the organization’s products. This has been studied specifically by investigating how the development of emotional commitment can be used as a complement to the Cornerstone Model in order to integrate quality culture in newly added sites through acquisitions and new establishments. In order to be able to study this phenomenon in a real context, a single organization was selected which had the character of being very fast growing with continuous acquisitions and new site establishments, and where at the same time there was a significantly strong quality culture which the organization saw as a main factor for success in terms of quality when delivering the organization's products. The empirical material was gathered through a qualitative cross-sectional study where interviews were conducted with respondents from a wide range of roles within the studied organization in order to create an overall picture of the approaches used to integrate the quality culture in new sites. Data analysis has been carried out through a deductive approach where categories and themes were identified in advance based on the cornerstones of the Cornerstone Model as well as the addition of a proposed seventh cornerstone in the shape of developing emotional commitment. The data collected from the interviews was then thematized within the framework of these categories. Conclusions that could be made from the study were that emotional commitment, in the context of integrating quality culture in sites that have been added during acquisitions and new establishments, can function as a complement to the Cornerstone Model where all seven values cooperate with each other. The study has also illustrated key aspects regarding how an organization with a strong quality culture can work to integrate the quality culture in newly added sites in order to achieve high quality in the delivery of products and services.
