Detta arbete presenterar en konceptstudie för att utveckla en fristående benmassageenhet. Arbetet har genomförts som ett examensarbete på programmet Sportteknologi – högskoleingenjör produktutveckling vid Mittuniversitetet i Östersund, och syftar till att anpassa en befintlig modul från en massagestol till en ny, utsedd applikation.

Syftet med projektet är att identifiera ett koncept på en fristående benmassageenhet för att presentera för kund. Målen inkluderar att ta fram funktion och designidé, anpassa konstruktion efter dessa, utföra en produktkalkyl samt ge rekommendationer på fortsatt arbete och utvecklingspunkter.

Studien följer en produktutvecklingsprocess som inkluderar faserna förstudie, produktspecificering, konceptgenerering, konceptutveckling och konceptval samt konfigurering och detaljkonstruktion. Förstudien inkluderade en marknadsanalys, där konkurrenters lösningar jämförs, och en kravspecifikation. Konceptgenerering omfattade lösningsgenerering följt av konceptval där lösningar utvärderas systematiskt.

Rapporten konstaterar att utvecklingen av en fristående benmassageenhet är genomförbar. Målen för projektet uppfylldes delvis, där en konceptuell lösning presenterades. Utmaningar inkluderade den breda omfattningen av projektet och svårigheter med att definiera exakta krav och mål. 

Rekommendationer på fortsatt arbete bör fokusera på detaljerad konstruktion, prototyptillverkning och tester för att säkerställa enhetens funktionalitet. Vidare bör säkerhetsaspekter och optimering av mekanismen för olika applikationer beaktas i kommande utvecklingssteg.

This work presents a conceptual study for developing a standalone leg massage unit. The work was carried out as a thesis project in the “Sport Technology – Bachelor of Engineering, Product Development” program at Mid Sweden University in Östersund. The aim is to adapt an existing module from a massage chair to a new designated application.

The purpose of the project is to identify a concept for a standalone leg massage unit to present to the client. The goals include creating ideas for function and design, adapting the construction accordingly, performing a product cost analysis, and providing recommendations for further work and other development points.

The study follows a product development process that includes the phases of preliminary study, product specification, ideation of concepts, development of the concepts and selection, as well as configuration and detailed construction. The preliminary study included a market analysis, comparing the solutions from competitors, and a specification of requirements. The phase ideation of concepts involved generating solutions followed by concept selection where solutions are systematically evaluated.

The report concludes that the development of a standalone leg massage unit is feasible. The project goals were partially achieved, with a conceptual solution presented. Challenges included the broad scope of the project and difficulties in defining exact requirements and objectives.

Recommendations for further work should focus on detailed construction, prototype manufacturing, and testing to ensure the unit's functionality. Additionally, safety aspects and optimization of the mechanism for different applications should be considered in future development steps.
