Abstract [en]

The purpose of the study is to find out if there is a correlation between people's position on the left-right scale and people's attitude towards nuclear power in Sweden. It will also be investigated if there is a correlation between the control variables (gender, age, and level of education) and people's attitude to nuclear power. The study's material consists of the national SOM-survey 2022. The theory section is based on the concepts of the left-right scale and attitude. The previous research in this study shows different factors that correlate with the attitude towards nuclear power from different parts of the world. The chosen method in this study is both bivariate and multivariate regression analysis to find correlations between the independent variables (people's position on the left-right scale, gender, age, and level of education) and the dependent variable (people's attitude towards nuclear power). Before the bivariate and multivariate regression analysis, a univariate analysis is carried out for all five variables to find out the spread in the variables. The result shows that people on the right of the left-right-scale and men have a more positive attitude towards nuclear power in general compared to other people.
