Title [en]
Informed Design of Educational Technologies - Enhanced Learning and Teaching
Abstract [sv]
Studies on educational technologies is central within the field of educational research since such technologies today have an important role for educational processes such as teaching and learning. For example the one-to-one initiative has been introduced world-wide at an elementary, secondary and upper secondary school level. The use of simulations, educational games, virtual worlds and social media are significant in higher education. The question of design in relation to learning and teaching with educational technology seems despite that to not be thoroughly addressed. We plan a symposium to inspire dialogue, for challenging taken for granted assumptions, to pave the way for future research, to facilitate international contacts for younger researchers and to promote international research on informed design of educational technology for enhancing teaching and learning. Six well recognized scholars in teaching, learning and design of educational technologies are invited to each give a presentation and to participate in a concluding panel discussion. There is ample space in the programme for informal interaction, vital for future contacts and co-operation. The symposium takes place during two days in mid-September 2012 at Umeå University. Target groups are active researchers (in particular), teachers, students, stakeholders in education at all levels in the educational system and the general public. A symposium website will be launched.
