    Abstract [en]

    This thesis focuses on mining association rules on multivariate time series. Com-mon association rule mining algorithms can usually only be applied to transactional data, and a typical application is market basket analysis. If we want to mine temporal association rules on time series data, changes need to be made. During temporal association rule mining, the temporal ordering nature of data and the temporal interval between the left and right patterns of a rule need to be considered. This thesis reviews some mining methods for temporal association rule mining, and proposes two similar algorithms for the mining of frequent patterns in single and multivariate time series. Both algorithms are scalable and efficient. In addition, temporal association rules are generated from the patterns found. Finally, the usability and efficiency of the algorithms are demonstrated by evaluating the results.

    Abstract [en]

    The aim of this thesis was to modify an existing order queue application which was unable to execute orders in a queue in parallel which in turn could lead to a bad user experience due to the increased queue delay. The thesis proposes two queue structures to allow parallel execution within a queue. One of the two is selected for implemented in the modified order queue application. The implementation was carried out in Java EE and used different types of frameworks such as JPQL. Some parts of the order queue application had to be modified to be able to handle the new queue structure. New attributes that defines dependencies of the orders are used to find a suitable parent for each order in the queue. The queue structure was visualized making it possible to see the execution in real time, and a test server was implemented to test the queue structure. This resulted in a working prototype able to handle dependencies and parallel orders. The modified order queue application was performance measured and compared to the original order queue application. The measurement showed that the modified order queue application performed better than the original order queue application in terms of execution time below a certain number of queues. Future work includes optimizing the methods and queries in the implementation to increase the performance and to handle parallelism within the orders.

    Abstract [en]

    Issue tracking is one of the vital parts in maintaining computer  systems.  It is utilized in anything from small independent companies to large enterprises. The tracking does not just provide developers and other personnel with crucial information regarding their systems current state, but additionally stores useful documentation if any error reoccurs in the future. However, if the tracking issue would be deficient in some way, the complete process of developing or maintaining a system could affected negatively in great extent. This thesis work has looked into a scenario where the tool has been to slow, overly complicated and obsolete. It has made a large negative impact on the work force that uses the tool and made tracking issue to a discouragement. The thesis work has thence investigated features of the existing tool, suggested a better solution to use based upon these findings, followed by the development of a web application. When the application was finished, its usability was tested by the intended staff and performance tests were conducted. The test results showed that the application had been implemented successfully in many aspects. Unfortunately, due to deficient technical choices, the project did struggle with implementing all features as expected. The thesis work did consequently learn the hard way the importance of a choosing development techniques very thoroughly.

    Many milestones have been passed in computer science and currently we are on our way to pass yet another: artificial intelligence. One of the characteristics of AI is to be able to interpret so-called unstructured data, i.e., data that lacks structure. Unstructured data can be useful and with the new tools within AI is it possible to interpret it and use it to solve problems. This has the potential to be useful in practical applications such as processing and decision support. The work has been done at Apendo AB, which has the Swedish National Land Survey as a customer. The work is to investigate how AI-driven cognitive services through IBM Watson can be applied to the Swedish National Land Survey. The goal is to answer the following questions: Is it possible to apply cognitive services through Watson's services to give decision support to the Swedish National Land Survey already? In what ways can you use Watson's services to create a decision support? How effective can the solution for the Swedish National Land Survey be, i.e. how much time and costs can they save by using Watson's services on the chosen concept? As a practical part of the AI study, a perceptron was developed and evaluated. Through an agile approach, tests and studies about IBM Watson have taken place in parallel with interviews with employees at the Swedish National Land Survey. The tests were performed in the PaaS service IBM Bluemix with both Node-RED and an own built web application. Though the interviews, the Watson service Retrieve and Rank became interesting and examined more closely. With Retrieve and Rank you can get questions answered by ranking selected corpus pieces that are then trained for better answers. Uploading the corpus with related questions resulted in that 75% of the questions was answered correctly. Applications for the Swedish National Land Survey can then be a cognitive search function that helps administrators to search information in manuals and the law book.

    Abstract [en]

    Internet of Things changes our world with everything we have around us, our everyday things will be connected to the Internet. According to experts, in two years there will be up to 29 billion devices connected to the Internet. With all of the information that is produced it is important to keep the communication secure, otherwise there can be serious problems in the future. Therefore the objective with this study has been to investigate the area of jamming attacks on wireless communication for Internet of Things, more specifically on LoRa and WiFi technologies. This was made by a literature study to research about Internet of Things, the industrial side of it, the two communication technologies and wireless jamming of them. Additionally to this a small scale test bed system consisting of two LoRa nodes (an Arduino and a LoRa gateway), two WiFi nodes (a laptop and router) and a software defined radio frequency jammer (a HackRF One) were set up. Jamming was performed on the system and evaluated form the perspective of a typical industrial Internet of Things scenario. The testing on the system was done by measuring the received signal strength index, round trip time for a message and packet losses. The study showed that the WiFi communication broke down completely while the LoRa communication stood strong up to the jammer. This concluded that LoRa communication is secure for a typical Internet of Things scenario, from this particular jamming device, or a similar one.

    Detta projekt har avsett att skapa ett gränssnitt med formulär som förenklar utskick av push-notiser till applikationen Tiptapps användare. Denna del av applikationen stödjer förutom ett meddelande också bilduppladdning samt återanvändning av tidigare bilder. Nya bilder sänds till en server där de senare skalas om och skickas till Amazons molnplattform. Front-end-delen av projektet är utvecklat med React och Redux. Back-end-delen är utvecklad med Node.JS med ramverket Express. Projektet har visat sig framgångsrik med enbart några justeringar kvar innan arbetet kan integreras med Tiptapps kodbas.

    Inventory management is considered to be an important activity that companies need to accomplish as improved methods directly can affect the final result. Product allocation within the warehouse is one of the vital parts of inventory management. This report is a case study where a warehouse of a manufacturing company is considered the case. The overall purpose is to investigate how a optimization model can help organizations with their inventory management, by first studying existing processes and based on that create the model to calculate optimal inventory allocation. The study has been conducted through a mixed method, divided into a quantitative and qualitative phase, as research claims that the key to the success of efficient inventory management is to match the layout of the warehouse case policy, stock layout and order types in order to customize the optimization model. In the first phase, a process mapping was conducted to build the optimization design. The second phase was based on mathematically describing the same problem setup, and then to model the problem with collected data. In the process-mapping phase, two differentiation criteria were identified as units sold packages and the unit production cost. The purpose of the classification was to identify which unique products that should be treated differently and receive assigned storage, which was an improvement opportunity found in the case description. A total of 93 products were placed on one of the 220 storage sites, with the aim of minimizing the mileage by truck. Comparison of target function values ​​between the optimal set-up model and the current set, demonstrated a theoretical saving of the number of driven meters of 35%. The study results have shown that mathematical modeling and linear programming can be used for inventory allocation problems to optimize product allocation, where the mathematical model is based on case-specific properties. The model's results are expected to facilitate a number of the problems noted in mapping inventory management processes.

    Abstract [en]

    The aim of this study was to research which Lean principles that could be incorporated in a small company. Lean is a more and more common expression that has become popular among companies that strive to find new ways of improvement and creating ways to compete on the market.  Lean as whole can be viewed as methods to increase the effectiveness of ones working processes through handling waste and increasing customer value. The company that was chosen for this study was Lundqvist Trävaru AB, a small family company located in the city of Piteå in northern parts of Sweden. Their main product is to create wall blocks that can be assembled into garages, cottages and storage units. The study was constructed in physical visits to the company while conducting participatory interviews and observations. A theory study was also conducted to find information important to carry on studying and analyzing the subject. The collected data was compiled into value stream maps and spaghetti diagrams covering the work in the factory of the company, then a MUDA-analysis was made to locate different types of waste and suggestions of improvements to eliminate this waste. To quantify the study a capacity process index (Cp) and specific capacity index (Cpk) was calculated and compared to the numbers in theory. The results showed that there are good possibilities to implements Lean principles into the company. The Cp and Cpk -index that was calculated gave an unclear result, this probably as a result of it being a difficult process to demonstrate this type of calculation. The conclusion of the study is that it has given a result and that there are possibilities to conduct further studies on the subject.
