Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The lack of standards on CSR disclosure and the assumption of manager’s opportunism have caused ha distrust on the credibility and quality of CSR disclosures. The purpose of this study was to statistically analyze and explain the relations between different types of commitment and the two dimensions of quality in CSR disclosures. Quality was analyzed from two different dimensions: style and amount while three different types of commitment was taken into account: value-based, obligation-based and affection-based. In order to achieve the study’s purpose, CSRreports from 102 of the world’s most innovative companies were analyzed. Data were collected from the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) database and analyzed via correlation analysis and regression analyses. The results show that reporting quality relate negatively to all types ofcommitment which was not expected. The conclusion from these relations is that management opportunism, one of the study’s fundamental theoretical concepts, is reflected by an excessive use of the commitment terminology in the reports.
