Abstract [en]

As trade with China increases, it becomes more and more important to have knowledge about the Chinese business culture and the cultural challenges. The purpose of this study was to investigate what differences existed between Swedish and Chinese businessmen and also looks upon how the negotiation techniques differ between the countries. To answer this question, I have done a literature review in which I have used books, articles and internet and conducted four interviews. The results of the study show that the cultural differences are large and that certain prior knowledge and understanding are necessary to succeed in a business negotiation with China. The survey results revealed several recurrent factors/differences that are essential to have knowledge about. The study showed that the major differences were found in the areas, morality, relationships and work environment.
