Abstract [en]

International trade operations are hyper complex systems with stakeholders differencing in, for example, tasks, views, culture, and location. Hence, there is a need for a language helping those actors to communicate. STEM - The Systemic Tempo-Spatial Enterprise Operations Modelling Language - is proposed for guiding a management systems modelling of its operational system. By conceiving operations in three dimensions: form, time, and space, it is offering an extensive set of modelling constructs. STEM has proved its usefulness in easing the coordination challenges of dynamic e-logistic operations. Further benefits may be obtained by combining STEM with well proven OR methods.
