Abstract [en]

In this paper, the impact of hydrogen pressure and testing time on the attenuation of optical fibers at different wavelengths is investigated. The sensitivity to hydrogen of various fiber types from different manufacturers is evaluated. Furthermore, the standardization of fibers and test methods with respect to hydrogen ageing is discussed and some improvements are proposed.
