Abstract [en]

When designing information systems, there should exist a Model (including important criteria, questions to be answered) independent of the problem domain, including the early steps in systems development. The parts common for any type of information systems are what I call a Model for Idealized Design. When the designer has defined the specific goals, philosophy of technology, strategies etc identified in the Model, for the problem domain, he has to identify what is specific (characteristic) for the actual information system that is not common for other information system. These specific characteristics will be identified and specified with help of a Meta Method. My intention is to define this Model for Idealized Design and the Meta Method to specify the characteristics of information systems, with Intranet as the problem domain. The first step in the research will be a theoretical study of criteria for design and creativity, Than a feasibility study of Intranets to identify common problems with such design will be accomplished. Afterwards I will create the first version of the Model and the Meta Method to identify the specific characteristics. A first version of a specific method for Intranets will be developed using a virtual Toolbox, which also must be roughly identified and described. Than I will take part of some ongoing projects in organizations developing Intranets and iterative revise and refine the Model, Meta method and the Toolbox. The process to develop information systems shall be characterized of creativity – using creative techniques such as scenarios, brainstorming, techniques to value ideas etc.
