Efficient Utilization of Forestry Resources is a project of Mid-Sweden University´s major research program entitled forestry as a Resource. The basic idea behind this project is to investigate of replacing the utilization of non-renewable resources with an efficient utilization of renewable resources available in the local region. The overall objective of the project is to identify forestry-based products and production systems with future potential on the viewpoints of functional and economical efficiency, environmental impact and consumption of resources, efficient use of energy, and adaptability to changing external conditions. The project consists five sub-projects and the duration of the project is five years from 2002 to 2006. The main sponsors of project are the EU, Mid-Sweden University, and other Swedish local authorities, associations and companies.
