Abstract [en]

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly transformed the modern workplace, particularly influencing the shift towards hybrid work models. In Switzerland, government mandates necessitated the reduction of physical office spaces, leading to new challenges as employees began returning to the office. This essay examines the development of a desk booking platform designed to optimize workspace utilization and enhance employee satisfaction in a hybrid work environment. The platform, built with ExpressJS, React, and a MySQL database, integrates Microsoft Entra for secure authentication, addressing logistical inefficiencies in desk management. By exploring the motivations, design considerations, and expected outcomes, this essay highlights the potential of technology to streamline office operations and adapt to the evolving dynamics of workplace attendance postpandemic. The project’s methodology, incorporating agile development practices, ensures responsiveness to changing requirements.
