Abstract [en]

SEXual health Identification Tool (SEXIT) is a method for systematic assessment of sexual health, risk-taking and victimization or perpetration of violence among youth. The method has been implemented in youth clinics in several Swedish counties, yet the implementation is still rarely evaluated. The aim of this study was to explore experiences of conducting structured conversations using SEXIT among personnel at youth clinics. Methods: Semi structured digital interviews were conducted in the spring of 2024, with 8 personnel at youth clinics in the County of Jämtland Härjedalen. The interviews were recorded, transcribed and analysed using qualitative content analysis. Results: The analysis resulted in five main categories that illustrated the personnel perceptions on the use of SEXIT; I) it facilitated discussions on sensitive topics, II) they felt like enlighteners and educators III), however they felt that digital victimization and its normalization needs increased attention, IV) and it is still a challenge to adapt counselling and achieve equity as well as V) both time and human resources are crucial prerequisites. Conclusions: SEXIT facilitates discussions on sensitive topics and positions personnel as enlighteners and educators in youth clinics. However, challenges remain, particularly in addressing digital victimization and ensuring equitable counseling. Effective implementation of SEXIT requires adequate time and human resources to achieve its full potential.
