Abstract [en]

Many children get exposed to violence, although this many times goes unnoticeable, especially violence against children in sects. There is a gap when it comes to research about this and therefore this study aims to explore what types of violence children in sects get exposed to and why they are exposed to this victimization, as well as what consequences this can result in. This has been done through a document study with a thematical analysis used to analyze the data. The study shows that children in sects are exposed to different types of violence where physical, psychological and sexual abuse are most common. Furthermore, the sects characterize themselves as families and isolation is common which could affect why the children are victimized. The analysis shows that frequent upcoming consequences of the victimization is a feeling of quilt and anger and in some cases mental health issues.
