Abstract [en]

Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) have been experimentally proven for use in many applications. The nature of TENGs as sensors could have great applications in big data, the Internet of Things (IoT), etc. Many types of sensors have been introduced in other chapters of this book series. Such sensors have been discussed and tested for use in the IoT. This chapter will introduce the progress of TENGs for the IoT, including how TENGs can be used in the IoT and experimental demonstrations such as smart homes, human-machine interaction, wireless power and communications, and telemedicine. Some of the challenges that remain to be addressed are also discussed.
