Under de följande åren kommer samhället att möta många utmaningar när det kommer till hållbarhet. Vissa utmaningar är vi bekanta med redan idagmedan andra utmaningar, av ny karaktär, kommer att uppstå. För att kunna möta dessa, och möjligtvis kunna förhindra uppkomsten av somliga,krävs att omställningen görs till ett hållbart samhälle. I denna process behövs olika slags verktyg, kunskaper och kompetenser. FN menar att utbildning är en av de viktigaste faktorerna för att uppnå Agenda 2030 och hållbar utveckling. Framtidens generationer behöver ges rätt förutsättningar för att en önskvärd hållbar framtid ska vara möjlig.Studien syftar till att öka förståelsen för hur hållbarhet förmedlas till eleveri en utbildningsverksamhet. Målet är att kunna bidra till verksamhetens uppdrag om att stötta utvecklingen av ett hållbart samhälle. Genomfallstudiemetod, dokumentanalys och innehållsanalys undersöktes en utbildningsverksamhet med en unik positionering och uttryckt hållbarhetsfokus. Verksamhetens karaktär medförde att den ekologiska delen av hållbarhet undersöktes. Som teoretisk utgångspunkt för detta användes Sveriges miljökvalitetsmål. Resultatet visar att verksamheten ligger i linje med de målsättningar som formulerats. Innehållet i utbildningsverksamheten korrelerar väl med miljökvalitetsmålen utifrån vad som rimligtvis kan förväntats. Samtidigt finns utrymme för förbättringar, var i en viktig del är att utveckla ett rutinmässigt förfaringssätt för implementering av hållbarhetsrelaterat innehåll. Studiens resultat indikerar att det finns goda förutsättningar och få hinder för att göra detta.

In the following years our society will face many challenges when it comes to sustainability. Some challenges are already known to us while some will be new ones. To be able to meet these challenges, and possibly even prevent the emergence of some, it is imperative that the transition to a sustainable society is made. In this process there is a need for a variety of different kinds of tools, knowledge and competencies. According to the United Nations education is one of the most important means when it comes to achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Future generations need to have the right conditions for a desirable sustainable future to be possible.The aim of this thesis is to increase the understanding of how sustainabilityis conveyed to students in an educational operation. The objective is to contribute to the mission of the operation which is to support the development of a sustainable society. Through case study methodology, document analysis and content analysis an educational operation with a unique positioning and expressed focus on sustainability was studied. The ecological part of sustainability was examined due to the characteristics of the operation and the theoretical basis for the research framework was Sweden´s environmental objectives. The results show that the operation is in line with the objectives that have been formulated. The content of the educational activities correlates well with Sweden´s environmental objectives based on what can reasonably be expected. At the same time there is room for improvement, in which an important part is to develop a routine procedure for implementing sustainability-based content. The study suggests that the preconditions fordoing this are good and the obstacles are few.
