The essay explores the interpretative prerogative in order to enlarge the amount of stories used to strengthen the decolonisation process in Africa beyond appropriation. The two case studies are The Mission Song (2006) by John le Carré and A Grain of Wheat (1967) by Ngũgĩ wa Thiong´o. The interpretative lenses used are Otherness, hybridity, mimicry and authenticity and they are used in a postcolonial analyse of the case studies.
