Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Previous studies have examined voluntary audit through different aspects such as external interests, size of the company, outsourcing and so on. In Sweden there is an ongoing discussion about the current limit values. Previous studies also recommend to develop this research area. We have done 12 qualitative interviews with auditors from Sweden. The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze stories from auditors of small businesses choices about voluntary audit. Based on institutional theory and previous research we have analysed the empirical material. The result shows, among other things, that external interests, cost and whether the company has an accountant can influence a small business willingness to hire an auditor.
