The purpose of this study was to examine the presentation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, CEDAW, with a case study of the labor market, education and social and economic benefits derived from the Convention. The method applied was a comparative case study with text analysis as the analysis method to examine how important areas for gender equality are presented in the party programs for Sweden and Pakistan's governing party. As a theoretical starting point, Yvonne Hirdman's gender theory was applied to the material to say something about which views on women are communicated directly or indirectly through the arguments in the party programs. The result indicates that both parties are to some extent in line with what is stated in the CEDAW in each area with some differences of opinion between them. There are some ambiguities where the presentation of the view of women fails in relation to the CEDAW andYvonne Hirdman's gender theory. The view of women's rights is not always in line with what is stated in the CEDAW, despite having ratified the convention. The problem of the essay is based on the fact that women have a subordinate position in whatever areas or wherever in the world they are. The CEDAW was therefore included in the study because existing research presented the significance of the Convention for the development of gender equality.
