Abstract [en]
Socially responsible consumption, to be understood as the acting on a social preference, a wish to consume in a manner that further morals goods. This concept is still a debated among economist and others within academia, while most agree of that it does exist the strength and nature of the phenomena is still uncertain. We therefore attempt in this thesis to add clarity to the issue by approaching the topic in a manner irregular to the field, with new tools availableto us such as Google trends, an database showing the amount of searches on a topic conducted by the users on the world's largest search engine. We approached the modeling of the data in two ways one were we simulated a long term retaining of the social preference and one were it was quickly forgotten. We were unable to find any clear evidence for the existence of a consumption behavior based on a social preference.
