Abstract [en]

Problem formulation and purpose: One of the main rules in public service ist o be objective and independent. The purpose with this lucubration is to study how Sveriges Radio and the american equivalent National Public Radioreported about the murder of George Floyd. From a scientific perspective this lucubration is important in order to analyze if there's structural racism within public service and to find out if there’s any similarities or differences in the news reports. Method and material: Quantitative content analysis in combination with aqualitative content analysis was used to answer the question formulations and implement the purpose. The lucubration is also based on the Framing Theory,Critical Race Theory and The White Racial Frame. In both of the methods the selection was news features about the murder of George Floyd from Sveriges Radio and National Public Radio between the dates 27-29 may 2020.Main result: The main result in this lucubration is that the published news feature from both Sveriges Radio and National Public Radio were quite neutral, even if National Public Radio alluded to emotions in a bigger range, while Sveriges Radio were more objective in their news reports. This means that the allegations from the co-workers at Sveriges Radio doesn't reflect the actual piece of news, according to this lucubration.
