Abstract [sv]

Syftet med uppsatsen var att skapa en djupare förståelse för vilka förutsättningarsom krävs för att engagerade ledare ska kunna påverka motivationen hosmedarbetare i turistbranschen. Studien utgick från en teoretisk referensrambestående av definitioner av begreppen motivation och engagerat ledarskap samtbeskrivningar av olika motivationsteorier och ledarskapsteorier. Den teoretiskareferensramen avslutas med en beskrivning av turistbranschen. Den metod somanvändes för att besvara syftet var åtta kvalitativa intervjuer. Resultatet av studienvisade att de förutsättningar som krävs för att en engagerad ledare ska kunnamotivera medarbetare var att ledaren brann för sitt arbete, att de besatt personligaegenskaper som en engagerad ledaren bör ha och att de kunde anpassa sig efterolika situationer. Ledaren skulle även tro på organisationens vision, ha möjlighetatt fatta beslut angående belöningar samt att de behövde ha en fungerade stab ochledningsgrupp. Avslutningsvis krävdes även en motiverande kultur.

Abstract [en]

The purpose of the study was to find a deeper understanding of what prerequisitesthat is required so that a committed leader can affect the motivations of co-workers in the tourism industry. The study has its ground in a theoreticalframework that consist of definitions of the concept of motivation and committedleadership. It also consists of a description of different motivational theories andleadership theories. The theoretical framework ends with a description of thetourism industry. The method that was used to answer the purpose were eightqualitative interviews. The results of the study show that the prerequisites that isrequired for a committed leader to be able to motivate co-workers, is that they arecommitted to their work, that they possess the characteristics of a committedleader and that they can adjust to different situations. The leader should also havefaith in the organisations vision, ability to make decisions about rewards and havea functioning staff and management. At last a motivational culture is required, sothat a committed leader can affect the motivations of co-workers in the tourismindustry.
