Alla byggprojekt har en sak gemensamt och det är att det är yrkesarbetare som utför det praktiska arbetet i ett byggprojekt. För att effektivisera produktionen är det viktigt att känna till de faktorer som motiverar yrkesarbetare i sitt dagliga arbete. Syftet med detta examensarbete är att undersöka vilka faktorer som påverkar motivationen mest hos yrkesarbetare i anläggningsprojekt med fokus på kommunikation. Undersökningen avgränsar sig till anläggningsprojekt där arbetsplatserna är geografiskt avlägsna vilket innebär att arbetarna tvingas bo på arbetsorten och veckopendla. En intervjustudie med anläggningsarbetare anställda av NCC anläggning Jämtland/Västernorrland ligger som grund för undersökningen i examensarbetet.

Att arbetarna bor borta under veckorna för att bo nära arbetsplatsen gör att det blir fler motivationsfaktorer att ta hänsyn till än om de hade arbetat i närheten av hemmet. Detta gör att boendestandarden på arbetsorten blir en viktig motivationsfaktor för arbetarna. Även trivseln med kollegorna spelar stor roll då de spenderar väldigt mycket tid tillsammans och ofta även är isolerade från omvärlden. Arbetsplatsernas läge gör att kommunikationen och informationsflödet från övriga organisationen blir mer svårhanterlig och undersökningen visar att det finns förbättringsmöjligheter. Bristerna i kommunikationen kan tillsammans med att yrkesarbetarna inte känner sig uppskattade bidra till en ”vi och dem” känsla i organisationen. Även planeringen bli påverkad av de geografiska avlägsna arbetsplatserna och därför är delaktighet är viktig för yrkesarbetarna. De vill gärna vara med innan byggstart och påverka planeringen. Dels för att effektivisera produktionen men även ur en arbetsmiljösynpunkt där de kan påpeka vilka hjälpmedel som behövs och organisera arbetsplatsen. Resultatet visar dock att det är den ekonomiska ersättningen som är den faktor som i slutändan påverkar motivationen mest hos yrkesarbetare.

Every construction project has one thing in common. The professional construction workers are the ones that are doing the actual practical work in the projects. Therefore, in order to understand what makes the production more effective, it is important to know all the factors that motivates the construction workers. Thus, the purpose of this thesis is to analyze which factors that influence the motivation in workers on construction projects, with focus on communication. The study is limited to projects where the workplaces are geographically remote, which means that the workers are forced to live on the construction site and have to weekly commute. The basis for the examination in the master thesis, is an interview study with construction workers employed by the company, NCC anläggning Jämtland/Västernorrland.

The fact that the workers live away during the weeks, includes more motivational factors to regard than if they would have worked close to their home. This means that the housing standard in the workplace becomes an important factor for the workers. Whereas, even the social climate with one´s colleagues become essential, since they spend a lot of time together and often are isolated from the outside world. Due to the location of the different workplaces, means that the communication and the information flows from the other organization. Consequently, it becomes more difficult to handle, which the survey shows that there are opportunities for improvement. The shortcomings in communication, together with the fact that the professional workers do not feel appreciated, can contribute to a "we and them" feeling in the organization. Planning is also affected by the geographically remote workplaces and therefore participation is important for the professional workers. They want to be involved before the construction starts and have an influence in the planning. Partly to make the production more efficient, but also from a work environment point of view. There they can point out which tools are needed and organize the workplace. The result, however, shows that it is the financial compensation that is the factor that ultimately affects the motivation most among the construction workers.
