Abstract [en]

Today, great demands are made on sustainability through global resolutions and tighter legislation that regulate the working environment. The demand for innovation is increasing in the rest of the world, and Swedish municipalities are forced to make new adjustments. As a result, a municipality has launched a health initiative and within this project there is a leadership qualification course in health promotion with focus on promoting health and preventing illness through competence and knowledge development. In each change management, learning is a natural element, in order to keep up with changes, an outwardly active systematics that encourages innovation and a consciously well-worked view requires a plan of competence development and organizational learning. For this essay, we aimed to increase our understanding of how leaders work with the organization's learning in practice after they have undergone health promotion leadership training within the municipality's health initiative. To seek answers and approach the various aspects of our purpose, we have adopted a qualitative approach in the hermeneutical knowledge-based approach. This approach includes a holistic presentation where understanding, in terms of how we look at things and our past experiences, interpret everything that happens around us and give meaning to events. This essay and study is based on a qualitative research method and five semi-structured deep interviews were conducted. The results of this study showed that the health promotion leadership training was rewarding to all respondents and the initiated health promotional work varies within the activities. Prerequisites between units for turning ambitions into internships depend primarily on the number of employees per manager and the common barriers in terms of resources and support. The conclusion of this essay is that learning is taking place continuously, it is a natural part of everyday as changes occur constantly. An advantage is insight and understanding of learning processes that arise and who are already underway in the business to initiate lasting changes. The importance of a sustainable working life is that goals and strategies run through the entire organization, and that, support as well as resources are adapted to what the different units need to turn ambitions into practical efforts.
