Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Interest in   skateboarding is on the rise, in many municipalities around Sweden, new

skate parks   have been built in the last ten years. Gotland Municipality is not one of

these but   there is a need for a skate park. Because Gotland is an island and

relatively   isolated from other Sweden, it would be advisable to build a skate park in

Visby. This   study aims at designing a skate park focusing on sustainability.

The issues   around which the study was built has been, there is a general model for

how the   sustainable skate park is designed to meet the three sustainability

dimensions of   social, economic and ecological sustainability. As well as how it can

look and how   available space is utilized in the best possible way.

The   investigation has been based on a web survey and interviews with

stakeholders   to identify what is demanded by the skateboarders from Gotland. On

the basis of   this, a design proposal was taken at the sustainable skate park.

The location   of the skate park will be located close to where the majority of

respondents live, the park will be built in concrete which is the basis most valued by

most   respondents. The park will consist of a bowl with properties of miniramp

combined with   a street surface.

In this study,   no general solution for the sustainable skate park is found, as the

importance of   localization is highly valued.
