Abstract [en]

This essay is about trust and mistrust in different medias and analyzes the Swedish people attitudes towards media. The study uses different theories about political trust and tries to explain if political trust has an impact on Swedish people's trust towards media. This is an interesting subject to study regarding the upcoming election in Sweden in autumn of 2022. The amount of fake news about and towards politics has had an uprising in the previous decades and this phenomenon might have an impact on the upcoming election. This study brings out political trust as a strong factor for the trust in media and contributes to the established theories about how political trust and the trust in media works. The result from this study shows that it exists a correlation between political trust and the trust in media in Sweden.
