Abstract [en]

This essay has a purpose to get an insight into some of the choices of children's literature with a sustainability theme and increase the understanding of how books as such can be used in education for ecologically stainable development. The essay explores the thesis of how nature is portrayed and how the relationship between humans and the environment is portrayed in the selected children's literature. The anthropocentric view is showing more visibility in the literature. The children's books contain different views of nature and reflections of relationships where humans and animals live in unison or where humans stand above the animals and dominate the environment. The ecocritical perspective can contribute to an understanding of nature. The books from the analysis have the potential to be used in teaching for teaching different aspects of sustainable development by being discussed and analyzed.
